How do I transfer my Global domain to NSDesign?

If you already have a Global domain registered with another company (.com, .org, .net), then you can transfer these to NSDesign and take advantage of our services. This can be a slightly more complicated process than with UK domains, and can also take longer. If all goes well Global domains can normally be transferred within a week. |
The Firtst step is to place an order for your domain (and hosting) on our website, entering your domain into the "domain checker" and clicking "transfer" once it returns the domain as unavailable. On completion of the order, we'll email you specific instructions about how to transfer the domain - these instructions are also given below.
Next you should contact the current host, and ask them to do the following:
1) UNLOCK the domain
2) Provide you with the Transfer Authorisation Code (the Auth-Code)
Optionally, you can also ask your current host to change the nameservers to where the domain will be hosted. You should contact us to get the nameservers of the NSDesign server you will be transferring to, and once you have these, forward them to your current host. Changing nameservers means you can actually "host" with us in advance of the transfer going through.
Finally, email us with the AUTH-CODE, and we'll submit a transfer reqest. All going to plan the domain should transfer over to us within 5 days.
Note that the domain should not be considered transfered until we confirm this to you. Sometimes Global Domains are not able to be transferred and we will advise you if this is the case. If you cannot fully transfer your domain to us, you can still host with us, so long as the DNS has been changed as above. This will mean however that you continue to pay your existing host any domain admin/renewal fees.
