To set up the Opera mail client (M2) which is included in the Opera browser, follow these instructions.

Assume that you're setting up the email address

1) Go to Tools on the menu bar and choose "Mail and chat accounts..."
2) Choose "Add..."
3) Choose "E-mail"
4) Type in your full name (this will be shown in the recipient's email in the "from" field")
5) Type in the email address you're setting up (in our example,
6) Optionally, type in your organisation name, or leave blank
7) Click "next"
8) your login name will already be populated for you ("mickey"); overtype it with the full email address ("")
9) your password is whatever you set it to be when you set up the domain name
10)the radio button should be "pop3". Click next.
Uncheck the box marked "leave mail on server" (otherwise nothing is ever removed from your mailbox after they're copied to your computer, and so you may run out of space)
11) highlight on the account you've just set up (so we can fine tune it)
12)click on the servers tab, and check that your set up matches this:

Incoming pop server:

Port number: 110
Secure connection (TLS) empty (unchecked)
Authentication: Auto (Plaintext)
Password: (won't show)

Ourgoing SMTP server:
Port number: 25 (if your ISP blocks port 25, please use 26)
Secure connection (TLS) empty (unchecked)
Authentication: Auto (Auth login)
Password: type in your email password again here

Clicking on the "outgoing" tab allows you to enter a signature which appears on the bottom of every email you send.

Many thanks to Bruce Lawson for these instructions
