Server 8 Transfer
Posted by BCS Staff on 03 December 2018 05:05 PM

This post applies to hosting customers on server 8, any customers affected by this move will have been notified by email a couple of weeks ago.

Hi All,

At BCS we are committed to improving the service we provide to our customers.

Part of this is the migration of our shared hosting customers to a modern, more robust, virtual technology platform. We will notify clients on each of the servers as they are done but leave this post on the site to assist with queries.

We are undertaking server 8 migration tonight starting at around 10PM GMT.

Most of the accounts will be migrated over and will work without issue and require no intervention on the customers part. Howeverdepending on how you have your domain set up you may need to make a few changes.

Domains registered with us?

If you have your domain name registered with us we will do the necessary DNS changes for you although you may still have to change your email client settings (see below).

If you don't have your domain registered with us then you will most likely need to update your name servers.

Please login to your registrar portal and check to see if the name servers are set to "ns1.bcserver8.net" and " ns2.bcserver8.net ". If they are then please change them to the following

 "dns1.bcs-hosting.net" and "dns2.bcs-hosting.net"

N.B. - Do NOT change the nameservers unless they were pointing to “bcserver8.net” as this would mean your DNS is hosted elsewhere. If you’re not sure please raise a support ticket with our support team at  www.bcsupport.info and our techs can advise.

Emails -

If you have any email related issue because of the transfer then please check your incoming/outgoing server names, sometimes referred to as hostname.

If it shows any of the following

"server.dnsblock8.com"

"dnsblock8.com"

then you will need to change it to "cl2.bcs-hosting.net" or "mail.yourdomainname.com"

If you have the DNS set up elsewhere but use our server for your emails then you will need to update your MX record to mail.yourdomain.com (replace “yourdomain.com” with your actual domain name) and point mail.yourdomain.com to the new IP ' 52.56.154.222 ' in the DNS settings there.

Website -

If you have your DNS set up elsewhere and you have your website hosted with us then you will need to update your A record to point to our server, the IP address is: 52.56.154.222

____

If you have any other issues other than the above or issue not relating to server 8 then please raise a support ticket at www.bcsupport.info .

Regards,
Support Team.
